Marissa & Andrew's Sun Soaked Wedding in Lanesborough, MA

Summer is officially here and with it, mercifully, abundant sunshine. With 2025 starting off so rainy the entire wedding industry had been wondering if we were in for another wet season, but with a few Saturdays in a row now without so much as a drop we just may be in the clear (knock on wood). Marissa and Andrew first met in NYC before moving to the Boston area to be a bit closer to family, and wanted to plan a wedding that felt comfortable, laid back, and like an elevated weekend long backyard party. When we arrived last week we found Marissa getting her final touches done on the porch while Andrew and some friends and family relaxed dockside, spending every last minute cooling off in the waters of Pontoosuc Lake before rinsing off and getting dressed for the wedding. The two of them shared private vows on that same dock an hour later, spent time with family back in the main house on site as guests began to arrive, and sent their wedding party down the aisle ahead of them while they awaited their own entry. As the summer sun soaked their ceremony site flanked with vibrant florals, Marissa and Andrew strode into their ceremony hand in hand, smiling ear to ear.

What we loved about this wedding was that it cared most about guest experience. Marissa and Andrew wanted everyone there to feel like they could really enjoy each other’s company, spend heaps of time catching up and telling stories, and of course eat and drink and let loose amidst the backdrop of the Berkshire mountains. An extra long cocktail hour followed the wedding ceremony which let folks spread out and take in the view as the sun slowly made its way towards the horizon. By the time dinner rolled around it truly felt like a party as toasts from parents, best friends, and siblings commented on how Marissa and Andrew made so much sense for one another, in part because of their shared ability to make the other laugh. Laughs lead to happy tears which flowed right into a lively hora celebration that, despite the simmering summer temperatures, was as rowdy as any we’d seen before. As the ridge line swallowed the sun whole we revisited the waterfront with these two, taking in the cool air coming from the surface of the lake and basking in the last light of the evening. We left them dancing to all of the early 2000s hits and as we loaded our bags into the car we noticed the waxing crescent moon rising high in the sky and said our goodbyes to the Berkshires.
