Emily & Kevin's Charming Backyard Wedding in Killingworth, CT

Backyard weddings hold a special place in our hearts. There’s something about the hand-crafted, DIY aspect that makes everyone feel more relaxed, more comfortable. Emily and Kevin’s beautiful backyard wedding, hosted at the house Kevin grew up in in Killingworth, CT, was no different. Featuring a ceremony site behind the house and against the woods, long table dining underneath strung globe lighting, and a tented dance floor bumping with tunes played from vinyl, this wedding checked all of the dream backyard wedding boxes. When we first heard from Emily and Kevin they mentioned their own cat, Izzy, which was a vital clue for us in knowing how well we’d all get along. It was really special for us to get a look into the world that Kevin came from, including meeting his gigantic childhood cat Leo, and we really enjoyed getting to meet all of their friends and family in that setting. Little touches like the cushy green suede arm chair for guests to relax in, the filing card seating chart, the temporary tattoo station, and pie for dessert made this celebration truly unique. In a world full of beautiful places to tie the knot, we like to think that the decision to get married in your own backyard is a fantastic one.
