Katrina & Kevin's Autumnal Wedding at the Roger Williams Botanical Gardens in Providence, RI

Katrina and Kevin, industrial designer and environmental lawyer respectively, both live in Cambridge, MA together, but before they made their home just outside of Boston they too once called Providence home. They met while taking the same class during their time at Brown and, after what they called a “magical summer” in Providence, fell in love with one another. We can attest to the magic of this fine place we call home in the summertime, and it felt like a good fit that we’d be documenting their eventual wedding day together with them in various spots in and around the city. Their plans started on the east side of town where they got ready with their families separately, collided in the form of a first look nearby at the beautifully kept Woods-Gerry Gallery (maintained by RISD), then traveled north to Attleboro for the ceremony, and ended at the Roger Williams Botanical Center just south of town.

Their first look was private, incredibly sweet, and the property they chose for it overlooked the center of Providence. It was an incredibly beautiful day with light that fell rather than struck and atop college hill a breeze kept us all cool in the mid-day warmth. Their ceremony in Attleboro felt as much like a wedding as it did a reunion of family with folks from all over filing into the church to witness their exchange of vows. After a full mass followed by hugs and hellos on the church steps, guests made their way down to Roger Williams Park for the rest of the evening.

This is now our fourth wedding we’ve had the pleasure of photographing at least partially at the RWBC and even still we were giddy in the days and weeks leading up to Katrina and Kevin’s wedding. It’s a staple of ‘must-do’s in the Providence area and it’s an incredibly charming venue to host a wedding regardless of season. Live, airy jazz filled the main conservatory as guests snacked on hors d'oeuvres, took in the tropical views, and caught up in the late afternoon light. Dinner and toasts in the lower greenhouse room delivered an atmosphere like no other, surrounded by cactus and succulents and glowing with candlelight. Katrina and Kevin’s dance party kicked off with first dances and soon after was packed with friends and family, swaying below the palm fronds and having the best time.
