Annie & John's Colorful Wedding at Westwinds Farm in Woodstock, VT

Annie and John are both born and raised New Englanders and, befitting of their upbringing in the north east, first met on their college ski team. While the general consensus between the two of them (and their families) is that Annie is far and away the better skier of the two of them, John’s efforts on the slopes were enough to get the ball rolling during their time at Williams College and a decade or so later they found themselves planning a wedding in Vermont. The day started at Annie’s aunt’s house where everyone spent a bit of time getting ready before heading down the road to Westwinds Farm, a property owned by a family friend, where guests began to arrive in preparation for the ceremony. Annie and John waited by the drive to give a hearty hello to everyone who showed up before sending them up the hill for the wedding. It was a small gesture that really spoke to how much it meant to them that everyone from all points in their lives had all congregated in this one place for the singular purpose of honoring their relationship.

Westwinds Farm itself is a genuinely beautiful place to get married: its grounds are tucked into a hillside surrounded by old trees, and after a short walk to the hilltop tent site a lovely view east of the mountains awaits. A Clover and One Bee once again worked floral magic with vibrantly colorful bouquets, ceremony adornments that looked brilliant in the late summer afternoon sun and seemed to compliment the vast array of colorful outfits we saw at this wedding. Their ceremony was officiated by a dear friend and marked with plenty of playful jabs that hinted at both John and Annie’s dry sense of humor while honoring the decade long journey they had taken together to get to this point and ended with a welcoming thank you from Annie’s dad, Jay. An open air cocktail hour complete with massive cheeseboards and (good) craft beer followed by a candlelit dinner cooked and served by Stemwinder VT, another family friend, were highlights of an evening that continued with loving toasts (roasts?) from siblings, conga lines and singalongs, and seemingly continuous laughter. Everyone at this wedding seemed in such a grand mood, everyone was so happy, and that sort of thing is not just fun to document, it’s infectious. We left this wedding feeling grateful to do this for a living, but especially for the people we get to work with.
