Sam & Mike's Rainy Day Elopement in Providence, RI

If you’ve been following along with our wedding work these past seven years or so you’re probably aware of the fact that we actually love a last minute intimate wedding plan and it’s becoming a bit of tradition for us to start our wedding seasons with one or two. When Sam and Mike’s initial spur-of-the-moment elopement plan on the tenth anniversary of their first date at Prospect Terrace Park got rained out, they scrambled to find anywhere nearby that would have them and their six guests, all family, for a couple of hours. The back up location, an old mill building turned artist space complete with photography studios, provided both shelter from the rain as well as a unique backdrop for a wedding. Officiated by Sam’s brother and witnessed by their parents and Mike’s sister, Sam and Mike’s ceremony was short and sweet, full of laughs, and celebrated with champagne and a cameo appearance from a minor celebrity.

Our favorite part about this wedding was that everyone was in it for a good time; Mike’s mom wanted to jump in the air for a photo, Sam’s brother proudly wore his “Justin of the Peace” wrestling belt he’d been given as a gift for officiating, Sam and Mike couldn’t stop making each other belly laugh, and folks seemed to be genuinely in the moment and just happy to witness a union that had been a long time coming. It was a good reminder as we head into our 2025 season that there’s no such thing as a boring wedding plan - all you need is a desire to marry your person, surrounded by those that support you. After we said goodbye to the eight of them we stepped outside to find the rain just picking up again, spring in full swing.
