Mariya & Luke's Springtime Wedding at Glen Manor in Portsmouth, RI

It feels so good to get back into our groove in line with the springtime and Mariya and Luke’s wedding at the always lovely Glen Manor was a simple reminder of how much we love and are grateful for doing what we do. It feels like we’ve known these two for ever at this point: we met up for an engagement session last year in their neighborhood, photographed their civil ceremony in Cambridge earlier this spring, and getting to document their wedding a week ago felt like photographing old pals. Mariya and Luke are calm, funny, and sweet people and their quiet chemistry is so much fun to photograph.

Glen Manor’s formal garden hadn’t yet hit its floral peak so Mariya and Luke brought on local favorite Ayla of Shade Studio to fill the space with boggy, swamp inspired florals that softened the manor’s edges while elevating them. The coastal chateau vibe, the sun’s warmth cut by the cool ocean breeze, and Pakistani music meandering through the loggia mingled perfectly to create an atmosphere for their guests that was welcoming and rich with springtime energy.

Mariya and Luke envisioned a day that allowed them to thoroughly enjoy themselves. It was a treat to watch them float through the day, stopping here and there for a drink or a bite or a chat, all without so much as looking even the least bit stressed. Escaping into dusk to take in the shoreline slowed the evening down before an energetic dance floor sped it right back up again, and through it all their ability to remain present with one another made this day a joy to document. We thank them for planning what may have been the most gentle and beautiful start to our season that we could ask for and are incredibly excited to see what the rest of the year has in store.
