Moj & Tom's Summertime Wedding at Pioneer Farms in Warwick, NY

We first heard from Moj and Tom earlier this year when they came to us with a plan for a fun casual wedding at Pioneer Farms in New York state. The venue is a wildly pretty stretch of land a couple hours north of Brooklyn, where Moj and Tom live, and on top of offering a true farm to table experience it’s also got some fun cinematic history in that a few scenes from Celine Song’s 2023 film Past Lives was shot on premise. Tom’s a film maker and both he and Moj are avid photographers so collaborating with them for this wedding against a backdrop hand selected for one of our favorite films of the past few years had us incredibly excited.

A classic summer day with abundant sunshine and a steady breeze, Moj and Tom’s wedding day was full of floral splendor and unique detailing. Moj’s Iranian family prepped a beautiful and elaborate sofreh (literally the Persian word for table or spread) at the front of the ceremony, adorned with flowers and sweets and precious metals. Moj’s stunning vintage veil was also worn by her mother at their wedding. Tom wore a brilliant deep burgundy double breasted suit that popped in front of the lush greens at the farm. A family camera, a beautiful half frame Petri, used by both Moj and Tom as well as us throughout the afternoon realized the day in retro and served as a fun, sentimental element to both of their outfits. Carozola mixed soft, meadowy free flowing florals with pomegranate, cherries, and blackberries creating a cornucopia of summer bounty that brought the tablescapes to life. Daft Punk for their first dance followed by an immediate high energy dance set before dinner and toasts kept the vibe lighthearted and allowed guests to roam freely post dinner and explore.

Pioneer Farms struck a delicate balance between clear logistics and wild unkempt beauty. Watching Moj and Tom and their friends and families move between the old farmhouse buildings, the ceremony site shaded by an old weeping willow, and a tent in a field surrounded by tall grasses and wildflowers made for quite a cinematic day for us. Ending the day by ripping up the hill through cornfields in a golf cart to take in the last bits of daylight felt like the cherry on top of what was overall a gorgeous Saturday.
