Liesel & Noah's Mountainside Wedding in New Hampshire
Liesel and Noah (and Choco, their Newfoundland turned ring-bearer) reached out at the beginning of this year to tell us about their vision for a wedding at a family friend’s property up in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and without a second thought we were on board. It’s a beautiful region with views of undulating peaks melting into the horizon in every direction and also happens to be where Noah’s family has been visiting for decades. It was important to these two to get married somewhere they had a strong connection to and Liesel and Noah both hold place closely to their hearts. They’ve got a specific and shared sense of humor, too, that carried them seemingly effortlessly throughout the day and made for some unique moments to capture. Their first look, for example, was partially about saying hi but mostly about getting on a couple of paddleboards immediately afterwards. Their entrance into cocktail hour, unbustled dress be damned, was on a tandem bicycle. These may seem like absurd stipulations at most weddings, but for Liesel and Noah? Non-negotiable and hilarious.
They also expressed a desire for their wedding to focus on the people attending and their experience and from the moment we showed up we noticed an attention to detail that made for a wedding we ourselves would love to attend. A ceremony written and officiated by Liesel’s best friend, nods to the gorgeous and mountainous locale, fresh blueberries picked on the property and blueberry inspired florals from the incredibly talented Stitchdown Farm (who we also hired for our wedding!), the same magician they met on their first date performing card tricks for guests during cocktail hour, their favorite local ice cream shop, live renditions of classic dance tunes that got folks young and old to the dance floor, this wedding felt like it had a little bit of everything. The cherry on top of course was the view that changed color with the setting sun and provided what we feel is one of the best gifts anyone can give to their friends and families. In a lot of ways this wedding reminded us of our wedding nearly ten (!!!) years ago and we felt incredibly at home documenting it. Good food, great people, and beautiful views is a winning combo and Liesel and Noah’s wedding absolutely hit the mark.
